Tulabi Falls Campground Expansion, Nopiming Provincial Park, Manitoba

The Tulabi Falls Campground Expansion was designed as a showcase for environmentally sound campground development incorporating a strong ecological approach to campground design and providing 'cutting edge' innovative alternative waste water treatment and electrical technologies. McGowan Russell Group, Prairie Architects, Stantec and Nova 3 were responsible for the preparation of development concepts, preliminary construction drawings and detailed construction estimates. Major components of the project included the establishment of campsites, washrooms and shower buildings, staff building, park office, roads and a trail system incorporating a variety of construction details designed to respond to a diversity of natural environments and incorporating an active interpretive component showcasing the environmentally innovative technologies employed. In consultation with a solar product representative, our combined expertise was offered though a variety of workable, sustainable options such as solar hot water heating, instantaneous water heaters, radiant floor heat with geothermal sourcing, rainwater collection, compost toilets, low/no water urinals, and greywater recovery.
