Steep Rock Beach Campground is located on the east side of Lake Winnipeg in the Interlake region. The campground includes serviced and unserviced sites, washroom buildings, cottages, a marina, beach facilities and picnic areas. The campground was planned around an existing wooded area with significant plant communities and distinctive rock outcroppings. The objective of the project was to attract visitors to the site while maintaining the integrity of the natural environment. The land use requirements for the campground were weighed against the impact of the land to ensure an ecologically balanced design was achieved.
McGowan Russell Group Inc. developed the conceptual master plan and as part of a comprehensive team prepared the working drawings that included campground development, building construction, and water supply and waste water management systems for the site.
