Canwest Global Plaza is located on the City’s famous intersection of Portage and Main. The plaza provides innumerable seating opportunities for people having lunch, watching video screens or just watching other people. Civic art is integrated into the plaza including wind screens that protect pedestrians from adverse environmental elements. Native tree species with an understory of native perennials and grasses are used to soften the surroundings of the plaza.

Light Columns around the perimeter of the plaza create a clear point of arrival to CanWest Plaza at a human scale and visually connect the plaza periphery with the buildings.

The plaza paving patterns reinforce the form of the building façade and animate the interface between interior and exterior space (through water, light, pedestrian use and movement) creating active edges, identify building entrances and highlight key building features.
