Buhler
Recreation Park is a planned redevelopment of surplus
city land adjacent to the South Transcona Water
Ski Site. The park will provide the community with
new softball, baseball and soccer facilities. Recreational
pathways circulate throughout the park for running
and jogging. The facility will be open year round
to accommodate cross-country skiing, skating and
tobogganing.
In
addition to recreation, the park will serve an environmental
stewardship role through tall grass prairie and
aspen forest restorations. The prairie restoration
will include an extensive weed eradication program
prior to seeding. The aspen forest restoration aims
to establish new aspen stands while protecting existing
ones.
Ultimately,
Buhler Recreation Park is an ecologically responsible
recreation facility that promotes environmental
awareness and healthy living.
